KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Ahead of the league-wide roster freeze on September 7, One Knoxville SC continues to bolster its roster in preparation for the final push of the 2026 USL League One campaign. The club announced on Tuesday that it has signed forward Mouhamed “Momo” Diop for the remainder of the season, pending league and federation approval.
“We’re really excited to bring Momo into the squad and see what he can provide,” said Head Coach Ian Fuller. “He has some things that we are in need of, his physicality and is just silky smooth with the ball at his feet. There’s room for him to grow in the attacking third, but the way he can combine with some of our guys, he just adds another dimension.”
Diop will be available for team selection this weekend when One Knox SC concludes a two-match road stretch at AV Alta FC on Saturday.
A stalwart in the college ranks, Diop looks to bring those same playmaking tendencies to the next level as he begins his professional career with Knoxville.
The Thies, Senegal-native first burst onto the scene up in New Jersey at Rider University where he was at the forefront to a successful three-year run for the Broncs. Following 16 appearances as a freshman in 2022, Diop followed that up with four goals in 20 games in a sophomore season, earning All-MAAC First Team honors and the MAAC Championship Most Valuable Player award. That momentum carried into 2024 as he led the way with 10 goals, including five match-winners, and four assists en route to becoming the MAAC Golden Boot winner as the conference’s top offensive player.
Diop concluded his collegiate career at Marshall University in 2025, providing two goals in 13 appearances with six starts. He also spent part of this past summer in the USL League Two ranks with Asheville City SC.
Following away matches this week against Forward Madison FC and AV Alta FC, One Knox returns home on Friday, September 11 when it welcomes FC Naples to Covenant Health Park for a special Knoxtoberfest match (tickets). Festivities include $3 beers, a biergarten on the concourse with live polka music and a free club-branded Beer Stein for the first 1,000 fans to arrive (ages 21+).
