One Knox Scores Late to Grab Point in Greenville

MAULDIN, SC – As has often been the case this season, One Knoxville SC’s never-say-die attitude prevailed once again. Trailing by a goal with just two minutes to spare in second half stoppage time, Nico Rosamilia’s run to the back post on a hopeful ball in the box was rewarded, as the midfielder headed home the equalizer to earn One Knox a point in a 1-1 draw against Greenville Triumph SC on Saturday night.

“It’s in our identity and culture to never give up,” a resilient Rosamilia said afterwards. “It’s frustrating at times to chase in these kinds of games where we feel we’re the better team and that’s something we’re going to have to work on. But we have a will to keep fighting and we’re doing what we love, so if we don’t have that will, then it’s a problem.”

With the point in hand at GE Vernova Park, One Knox moves into third place in the USL League One standings with 37 points. It also snaps a two-match losing streak in matches away from home as the club has now scored a equalizing or winning goal after the 80th minute for a ninth time in 2026.

“You have to give the guys credit for the fight back,” noted Head Coach Ian Fuller. “I thought we were sharp in the first third (of the field) and into the second third, but we just weren’t sharp enough in the final third (to get the win). I thought we were very unselfish when we needed to be selfish and selfish when we needed to be unselfish.”

The visitors controlled the flow of the match for much of the evening, holding 69.6% of the possession and had 47 entries into the penalty area, including 20 in the first half, while Greenville finished the match with 31.

However, of One Knox’s match-high 16 shots, only three were put on frame until Rosamilia’s late conversion.

Catching eyes with teammate Teddy Baker who looped a ball in from the far corner of the box, Rosamilia was able to sneak his way in behind two Greenville defenders and head the ball down and away from goalkeeper Amal Knight, stunning the home crowd in the process.

“It was late in the match and I was just trying to get myself in a goal area to give us a chance,” Rosamilia recalled. “I saw Teddy pick up the ball, and it’s something we work on a lot. He placed a perfect ball to my head and I just tried to redirect it towards goal.

“In those moments, it’s just about having that grit and the want to score.”

It marked the third goal across all compeitiions for Rosamilia as he continues to recoup from an assortment of injuries and regain the form that earned him USL1 Finals Most Valuable Player a season ago.

“It’s why Nico is who he is,” Fuller said of the Roseland, New Jersey midfielder. “He’s here because he wants to score. His runs in the box are always dynamic, he has really good timing and he’s a good finisher. We’ve been missing him, there’s no question about it.”

Rosamilia’s goal at the end of the second half canceled out one at the beginning from Greenville’s Muba Nour. The forward tapped in a ball squared across goal by William Akio 36 seconds into the half. It was a goal that came against the run of play and made things more difficult for Knoxville as it was forced to breakdown Greenville’s defensive shell for the remainder of the match.

“When you allow a team that’s really good in space and in the counterattack, you’re going to get stung eventually,” Fuller said. “We didn’t snuff out the danger there and when you let guys with quality get in behind you, bad things happen. Once that happened, it was a long fight back and the pressure mounts as the clock ticks.”

Having signed with One Knox earlier in the week following a successful trial period, defender Beckham Uderitz was thrust into the starting lineup and showed well in his 63 minutes of action, completing 10 of his 18 passes in the final third and four possessions won.

The start of the match was delayed by 33 minutes due to inclement weather.

Beginning a stretch of three matches in seven days, One Knoxville SC heads back home for a pair of upcoming matches at Covenant Health Park.

“We have a deep squad, so we know we’re going to have tons of rotation,” Rosamilia said. “We’re up for it, so it’s right back to work. Just recovering our bodies and I’m sure we’ll see a bunch of different guys play over these next two games.”
