Recap: One Knox grinds out a draw against Northern Colorado on the road
One Knoxville SC (4-4-4) gutted out a point on the other side of the county against Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC (5-1-4) in a 0-0 draw.
One Knox did well to withstand the Hailstorms press, as the home squad was the more attacking side for most of the match. NCFC had 12 shots and 1.46 expected goals in the game, while Knoxville only had four shots and 0.16 expected goals (PressBox Live).
Hailstorm was the more urgent side from kickoff, as they had 71.0% of the possession in the first 15 minutes. During the first half, One Knox went more than 30 minutes without a shot, as they only had two during the first 45. One Knox did well to hang tough and keep it scoreless at the break.
With the start of the second half came the most significant chance of the game for the Hailstorm. Yesin van der Pluijm conceded a penalty by fouling Jackson Dietrich. It seemed like Northern Colorado would finally break through with Trevor Amann stepping up to the spot, but goalkeeper Sean Lewis saved the shot headed to the bottom left corner to keep the deadlock going.
The game remained a stalemate until the final whistle, where One Knox could drag a point across the line.
One Knox falls to sixth in the table with 16 points after failing to win their last three games (two draws and one loss). They are behind Forward Madison FC on goal differential, as they have a +4 advantage, and Knox has 0.
One Knox will next host the Charlotte Independence on Saturday, June 17, at 7:30 p.m. at Regal Stadium.
